Host Jharkhand scripted a six-wicket victory over last year`s runners-up Orissa in a league match of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trop (East Zone) T-20 Tournament at Keenan Stadium in Jamshedpur today. Chasing a modest target of 104, Jharkhand rode on a 51-run stand between Ishank Jaggi (37 not out) skipper Saurabh Tiwary (21) to romp home with nine balls to spare.
Earlier electing to bat, Orissa lost wickets at regular interval to be restricted to 103 for nine. Barring opener Sumitosh Praharaj, who hit a 50-ball 40 with the help of six boundaries, none of the Orissa batsmen lasted long. With this win, Jharkhand advanced to the second position of the five-team East Zone league table with eight points in their kitty.
On the other hand, the defeat pushed Orissa, who now have six points from three matches, to the third place. Orissa would play their last league match on Monday against Bengal, who thrashed Tripura by six wickets in another league match of the day to lead the table with 10 points.
